ARTWORK

“My collagraph printed handmade paperwork is about ritual,

the oneness of creating. It’s about color, interaction, and space.

It’s about patience, time, and getting in touch with my inner spirit.

It’s about memories, a fear of forgetting, and about continually discovering new ways to record those memories through visual expression.”

BETSY MIRAGLIA ~ Paper Artist

After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design in 1966 with a BFA in Graphic Design, I entered the art world in Philadelphia in the areas of package design, corporate logo and promotional design, and worked with magazine layout and design for Ranger Rick, a locally published animal and nature magazine for children.

After 10 years working in the city and freelancing on my own, I decided to return to fine art and my love of printmaking. I worked mainly with linocuts and collagraphs for twelve years and was represented in five tri-state area galleries.

My fascination with color, texture, and pattern has always been my driving force and has allowed me to express and create with techniques that continue to challenge me.

Today, I am a professional papermaker who continues to enjoy color, texture, and pattern combining it now with my collagraph printmaking techniques on my own handmade papers.

My artwork continues to be exhibited and collected both nationally and internationally.
